How To Wear Lace

Unfortunately, lace is still big this Autumn. I say ‘unfortunately’ because this seems to have given some women the licence to wear as little as possible and assume that because it’s made from lace, they are being fashionable. Oh dear.

Eyeing up the latest little number from Topshop? Worried you’ll be mistaken for a lady of the night? Worry not. Lace can be cute, delicate, edgy and sexy. Follow OMB!’s simple how to guide and nail this trend…

I think this speaks for itself. Of course, there are exceptions to every rule (Halloween) and the right person, with the right outfit (and bra) could definitely get away with showing a little cheeky cleavage. But if you’re not off to a festival, and are more of a Katie Price than a Keira Knightly bust wise, then it’s definitely safer to not dare to bare.

Johann Earl lace collar dress £45

                                                     H&M £29.99                                                     River Island £30

Long sleeved, slinky mini dresses are sexy. Short sleeved dresses with loose skirts are cute. Mixing the two up can work, but by sticking to these two formulas you’ll avoid looking either too drowned in lace, or a little too naked.

Jones and Jones £65                                                       Topshop £38

‘Blonde shorts’, Zara £19.99

Take inspiration from Kristen Stewart and invest in a lace skirt or a pair of lace shorts that you can mix and match with t-shirts/blouses, cardigans/blazers, heels/flats.

Alternatively try teaming these Black Flower Lace Tights (Topshop £12) with a simple dress in this season’s metallic or jewel tones, together with black platform heels and big hair for instant glamour. OMB! seal of approval.
